As the printing press invented, it allowed movable type system and other printing techniques, established a separation between images and texts, the two requiring different methods in order to be reproduced. In the beginning, the printed material gave attention only to religious subjects, but gradually they began to tackle aspects of political and social life, and started to satirize and caricature as well. William Hogarth, the one of the first creators of comics, has presented seven sets of sequential narratives on “Modern Moral Subjects”. With the technological advancement of the industrial revolution, printing techniques developed as a result magazines and newspapers were established. In the 1840s, such illustrations publicized in magazines and newspapers become known as cartoons. The comic strip contains text inscribed within “balloons” inside the picture frame.
